Muddy Waters- Mannish Boy
This song is about a man now but when he was little his mom would always tell him that when he grow up he would "grow up to be the greatest man alive." Now that he is grown he really enjoyed growing up, but he still have that childish side to him. Kind of like he is a man child( which he says in the song) but he does manly things.
This song embody the feelings of the era because back then black men was not really respected as a man, they was trash really. So now that black people gained power and respect they could call them self a man and take care of all their responsibilities, thats why i believe this song embody the feelings of the era.
A R&B song off today that is similar to this song is man up by 116 clique, they are similar because they both talk about growing into a man. They are different because in man up, the man didn't take care of his manly responsibilities.

lap5 Describe/comment on a Jacob Riis photo.
I choose the picture Boys from the Italian quarter with a "Keep off the grass" sign
For one I choose this picture because it stood out the most to me, mainly because i wasnt sure if its little kids in the picture or if they are dwarffs. The boys in the picture looks dirty, guessing that they are at work. They also have hats on so i am also guessing that it be very hot were they work. The boys are both holding something in their hand, a piece of wood and the other some kind of medal tool, which he probably uses for his work. The picture is in black and white so it have to be old. Last in the picture there is a sign the say "keep off the grass" and by seeing that detail I no that the kids work on crops or some type of dirt. I like this picture because it have lots of details, it tells a story just by looking at it.

LAP6 Should countries pursue policies of imperialism, or empire expansion?
well I support both sides, Empire expansion and to pursue policies Imperialism, because they both can help a country economicly and socialy. Imperialism is for mainly for economic reasons, (to make more money) but food production increased due to better farming methods, and alsoit provides new transportation systems such as rail, road, sea, and air would better the county. Then if Empire expansion come into play, which will spread culture and make an empire stronger (more people more power) empire expansion expanded population wealth production wealth thats why I agree with both empire expansion and to pursue policies imperialism.

lap5 Can someone rise from "rags to riches
yes, someone can rise from rags to riches. lots of people start with nothing and with hard work and determination they can become rich and successful. they come from poverty to wealth or even from obscurity to fame. most people who as famous or wealthy wasn't all their life they struggle to get were they are. examples is like Sarah Plain's jump to fame in 2008, Jackie Robinson the first black man to play MLB and last Oprah Winfrey. In most cases everyone you see thats the man now wasn't when they was little. rags to riches is the way of life for most african americans today.
